How to Boost the Crawl Rate of Your Website

By Karol Heinricher

You'd have to be living under a rock in order to miss the importance of Google for delivering free traffic to your website time and time again. Improving the crawl rate of your site is another great way to get even more free visitors from the Google beast. Some sites are crawled every other day, while the others don't see the bots visiting for weeks together. No matter what other methods you use to increase traffic to your site, increasing your site's crawl rate needs to be a priority for you.

Content is still king - especially fresh content so update your site frequently to give the bots something new to crawl. The new content gives the Google spiders a reason to drop by your site on a regular basis to check on if you've got any content updated. The content you add needs to add value to your site by being search engine optimized, original, and unique to your site alone. Use important keywords wisely and take steps to ensure that your readers and Google alike find value in your site.

Choose the service you turn to for website hosting well so your site doesn't have a tendency to be down during critical moments. It's impossible to tell when these spiders are going to crawl your site. Wisely selecting a hosting provider can help improve the odds that your site will be operating at full capacity when they do arrive. Ensure that you double check the server that you're going for and if you experience any problems in the start, then just switch to another reliable one instead of waiting for these frequent problems to be resolved.

There's only one problem with this statement; ten people can read it and get ten different meanings from it. No, you don't have to add new material ten or so times a day to your site but you do need to update on a regular basis. The fact is, sites that are updated regularly are seen by Google as valuable, which is why they send in their bots to check if there's any change. Google absolutely values its users and they want to serve the most relevant content to them; so obviously if your site is updated, it shows that your content isn't stagnant and the visitors will get a fresh dose of information each time they visit.

It may not seem all that important at first to go to the trouble of making unique titles but the rewards are well worth the effort. It's only a few extra minutes and the potential rewards are well worth the effort. Sites that are frequently updated also tend to receive more search engine traffic and crawls so keep that in mind. If you want your website to benefit from Google and actually get consistent traffic from it, then it's really important that you focus on taking the necessary steps to get the Google bots to pay a visit to your site frequently. It isn't hard at all to follow these great tips once you get started.
